Taking the UK Driving Theory Test

I posted some information a while back about obtaining your UK driving license (link to blog). I used an online training course from Blue Mountain Training Solution. I've talked to some people that said all they did was read the driving manual, and they passed. I do better with practice and further explanation, so the online course was a great option for me. It also made me feel more prepared and less stressed. Really, it's up to you and how you learn. The course I took had lots of Hazard Perception videos for practice, which I found really helpful. I also liked all of the practice tests they had. The DVLA website has practice tests as well.

Anyway, when I arrived at the office, I was told to put everything in a locker. I had to take off my cozy vest and even the hair tie that I had on my wrist. "Put it in your hair or put it in your bag." I had to roll up my sleeves and then lift my hair as I turned in a circle. I had to double and triple check that my pockets were empty, "Make sure you don't even have a bus ticket in there." Clearly, people have come up with some clever ways to cheat. On a positive note, the people there were so friendly! In Texas, the people at the driving license department have always been bitter and rude in my experience.

There are 50 multiple choice questions, and you have an hour to complete. I flagged about 5 questions to review before finishing. There are 14 hazard perception videos. They give you examples before each part of the test, which are very helpful. When you finish, you can see your score after emptying your locker.

And PASSED. I didn't simply pass, I kicked that test's butt! Some people told me that I wasted my money with the online training, but I think it was a great investment. It gave me peace of mind and an almost perfect score. :o)
